Syracuse, N.Y. – The Onondaga Community College softball team registered a pair of 3-2 victories over Corning Community College Thursday afternoon at the Softball Complex. The Lazers won game one in seven innings and stole game two in extras.
Game One: Onondaga 3, Corning CC 2
In game one, the Lazers scored all three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Casey Gray collected two RBI, while Victoria Duffy knocked in the other Onondaga run. Emily Clapper registered two hits and scored a run. Samantha Moon and Caitlin Wormuth both booked a hit each to round out the Lazers five hits.
Chelcee Staats earned the win for the Lazers going seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits and three walks. Staats struck out five Barons on the game.
Game Two: Onondaga 3, Corning CC 2 (8 Innings)
In the nightcap, the Lazers scored in the top half of the eighth to earn the sweep of Corning. Gray and Staats each collected two hits, while Morgan Neadom, Lea Newman and Moon each lined hits in the nightcap.
Victoria Duffy pitched seven strong innings giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits. Staats earned the save pitching one inning in relief.
Onondaga (11-11) returns to the diamond on Saturday as they travel to Columbia-Greene Community College for a doubleheader set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Â
