The Onondaga Community College softball team plated 44 runs on 63 hits to win all four games this past weekend. On Saturday, the Lazers defeated Hudson Valley Community College, 9-8, 11-7, and continued to sweep Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 15-0, 9-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Game One (4/9): Onondaga 9, Hudson Valley CC 8
In game one, Onondaga took a 9-3 lead into the sixth inning. Hudson Valley scored five times in the bottom half of the sixth but the Lazers held on for the win. Samantha Moon and Chelcee Staats both went deep in the game to pace the Lazer's offense. Staats finished with a game-high three hits, while Moon, Morgan Neadom, Kyra Hunsinger, Casey Gray and Morgan Nichols each recorded two hits. Emily Clapper and Lea Newman added hits to complete the Lazers 15 hit attack.
Nichols tossed a complete game giving up eight runs on 13 hits, two walks and struck out five.
Game Two (4/9): Onondaga 11, Hudson Valley CC 7
Down 7-3 in the sixth, Onondaga would score eight runs in the sixth inning to win game two 11-7. Moon would lead the Lazer's offense with three hits and three RBI. Clapper, Neadom and Nichols would pound out three hits apiece, while Hunsinger and Gray added a couple of hits respectively. Victoria Duffy and Caitlin Wormuth rounded out Onondaga's 18 hit performance.
Staats threw a complete game giving up seven runs on 16 hits, one walk and struck out seven.
Game One (4/10): Onondaga 15, Fulton-Montgomery CC 0
In game one on Sunday, Duffy lined four hits, scored three times and drove in three runs in the Lazers 15-0 victory. Neadom, Moon, Nichols and Emillee Robords each registered multiple hits, while Micaela Madigan, Clapper, Gray, Jordan Doane and Newman all collected a hit in Onondaga's 19 hit parade.
Nichols threw her second complete game of the weekend surrendering just one hit while striking out 11.
Game Two (4/10): Onondaga 9, Fulton-Montgomery CC 1
In the nightcap on Sunday, the Lazers scored seven runs in the second inning to complete the weekend sweep. Moon, Doane, Sierra Keesler and Micaela Madigan added two hits each, while Clapper, Neadom, Nichols, Duffy and Jess Rodriguez each posted a hit on the afternoon.
Duffy threw a complete game one-hitter while striking out seven.
The Lazers (9-11) return to the diamond on Tuesday as they head to Mohawk Valley Community College for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
