Myrtle Beach, SC – The Onondaga Community College baseball team totaled 26 runs to take games against Delaware Tech Community College and Ancilla Community College.
Game One: Onondaga 13, Delaware Tech CC 4Deleware Tech. Community College scored two runs in both the first and second innings jumping out to an early 4-0 lead. Onondaga then exploded for seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the second.
Nate Budge led off the frame with a single and then proceeded to steal second. After a walk by
Justin Germain and a single by
Austin Hall to load the bases,
Brandon Breen drew a walk to drive in Budge.
Chad Raychel then reached on an error by the shortstop scoring Germain.
John Larca followed with a line drive down the left field line plating Hall and Breen to tie the score at four.
Avery Brooks followed with a single scoring Raychel to take a 5-4 lead. After a stolen base by Brooks,
Paul Fitzgibbons lined a double down the right field line capping off the Lazers seven run second inning.
Fitzgibbons and Budge both finished with two hits apiece while Larca had a team-high 3 RBI. Brooks, Fitzgibbons and Breen each finished with two RBI.
Nick Claver (2-0) registered the win throwing six innings giving up four earned runs on seven hits while striking out four.
Zach Martz pitched a solid seventh inning not issuing a hit and striking out one.
Game Two: Onondaga 13, Ancilla CC 1 (6 innings)In the nightcap, the Lazers pounded out 15 hits over six innings to stay perfect on the season.
The Lazers recorded all the runs needed in the top of the first inning. After a two-out walk by
Paul Fitzgibbons,
Nate Budge lined an RBI triple into the right center gap.
Justin Germain followed with a line drive single of his own to give the Lazers a 2-0 lead.
Two runs were plenty enough for starting pitcher
Aaron Beck who moved to 2-0 on the year. Beck went five and one-third innings giving up one run on six hits while striking out a career-high 10 batters.
Jared Limbeck closed out the game recording the final two outs.
Twelve different Lazers recorded at least one hit on the night.
Onondaga (4-0) returns to the diamond tomorrow with games against Ancilla Community College JV and Lakeland Community College starting at 9:00 a.m.
