The Onondaga Community College women's basketball team jumped out to a 26-8 first quarter lead on the road against Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday and never looked back on its way to a 95-53 conference win. With the victory, the Lazers stayed undefeated in the conference (4-0) while improving its overall record to 16-3. TC3 fell to 2-2 in conference play and 8-7 overall.
The game saw thirteen Lazers get in the scoring column with
Melissa Bakowski (West Genesee) and
Jordan Vaught (Bishop Grimes) contributing 16 points each.
Kumba Marong (Bronx Leadership Academy) celebrated her 20
th birthday with her second consecutive double-double (15 points and 12 rebounds) while Yami Reyes (Monticello) and Jill Wager (West Genesee) had 11 points each.
Samantha Roberts (Cicero-North Syracuse) dished out 12 assists, and Vaught knocked down 4 shots from beyond the 3-point arch.
Onondaga travels to Mohawk Valley Community College at Monday at 4pm for a showdown of two nationally ranked teams.
