After taking a one point (27-26) lead into the locker room against conference rival Jefferson Community College, the Onondaga Community College women's basketball team surged to a fifteen point lead late in the third quarter on its way to a 71-63 victory in Watertown on Thursday night. Onondaga improved its overall record to 15-3 while remaining undefeated in conference play while Jefferson suffered its first conference loss in falling to 10-5 overall.
Melissa Bakowski (West Genesee) contributed 17 points in the second half in leading the Lazers with game high 23.
Hope DeFazio (Baldwinsville) chipped in with 19 points that included three conversions from beyond the 3-point line.
Morgan Deland (Marcellus) contributed 11 points while
Kumba Marong (Bronx Leadership Academy) completed a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Samantha Roberts (Cicero-North Syracuse) rewarded her teammates with 11 assists. Onondaga made 16 of 22 foul attempts in the second half to help seal the road win.
The Lazers return to action against Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden at 1pm.
