Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Comes From Behind in Game One, Goes On to Sweep Finger Lakes

After using a late-inning rally to take game one, the Onondaga Community College baseball team held on in game two to finish off the sweep over Finger Lakes Community College on Saturday at the Onondaga Baseball Complex.

The two wins improve the Lazers' season record to 18-16 overall and 8-4 in Mid-State Athletic Conference action while the Lakers drop to 13-21 on the season and 5-3 in MSAC contests.

Game One: Finger Lakes 7, Onondaga 8

After Finger Lakes took a commanding 7-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Onondaga bats came alive as the Lazers scored six runs in the frame to take an 8-7 lead.

That score would prove to hold up as the final result as Luke Drancsak picked up the save for Onondaga in the top of the seventh inning.

Game Two: Finger Lakes 4, Onondaga 5

Onondaga got off to a quick start in game two as the Lazers scored five runs within the first three stanzas to grab a 5-0 lead.

The Lakers would battle back with four runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning to cut the Onondaga lead to 5-4.

Drancsak once again came to the rescue for the Lazers as he picked up his second save of the day, resulting in the 5-4 Onondaga victory.

Alexander Way earned the win on the mound for the Lazers. The freshman is now 3-2 on the season.

Onondaga will take on Finger Lakes again tomorrow when the Lazers travel to Canandaigua for a road doubleheader with the Lakers that will start at 1 p.m.
