The Onondaga Community College baseball team displayed its pitching staff's range last weekend as the Lazers took three games in a four-game weekend series against Jamestown Community Collegeat Diethrick Stadium in Jamestown.
With the wins, Onondaga climbs back to .500 at 14-14.
Game One: Onondaga 4, Jamestown 0The Lazers scored a run in the second and wouldn't need another as
Reynaldo Hernandez pitched a complete-game shutout en route to his fourth win of the season.
Game Two: Onondaga 4, Jamestown 5The Jayhawks jumped out to a quick lead in the game and would hold on to win, 5-4 as Onondaga would be unable to drive in the tying run despite having opportunities throughout.
Ryan Martin takes the loss after going 5.2 innings and striking out a pair while giving up five runs (four earned).
Game Three: Onondaga 5, Jamestown 2Nick Claver earned a complete-game win and moved to 2-2 on the season after scattering five hits.
As a team, the Lazers pounded out 13 hits with
Zack Ortiz leading the way with three.
Game Four: Onondaga 18, Jamestown 7The Lazers scored 10 runs in the first three innings and would add eight more in the fifth and sixth innings to cruise to the mercy-rule win.Â
Everyone in the lineup recorded at least one hit in the win with
John Larca and
Drew Mallinder collecting three hits apiece. Mallinder had a career-high five RBI and
Ricky Ortiz had a game-high four hits.
Alexander Way earned the win (2-2) after going four innings.
The Lazers return home at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and will host Niagara County Community College in a Region III doubleheader at the Baseball Complex.
