Elizabeth Riegler lifted a walk-off double in the opening game of a doubleheader as the nationally-ranked Onondaga Community College softball team took both games against Mohawk Valley on Tuesday evening at the Softball Complex.
The No. 9 Lazers extended their winning streak to eight games with the victories and moved to 14-6 on the season while the Hawks fall to 2-12.
Game One: Mohawk Valley 4, Onondaga 5The Lazers entered the final inning clinging to a one-run lead, 3-2, but the Hawks would quickly turn the deficit into a lead after plating a pair of runs on two hit and an error to take a 4-3 lead.
Facing its first loss in nearly two weeks, Onondaga responded in the bottom of the seventh when
Samantha Moon led off the inning with a single and quickly skipped to third after Mohawk Valley mishandled the ball allowing
Morgan Neadom to reach. With two on and one out, the stage was set as Riegler laced the third pitch she saw into the outfield plating the game-winner in the process.
Brittney Sears went the distance and earned her seventh win of the season (7-2) after giving up nine hits and four runs (two earned). Sears tallied six strikeouts in the win.
Game Two: Mohawk Valley 0, Onondaga 8 (Six Innings)Holding a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, the Lazers would produce three runs on four singles to take a 4-0 lead.Â

Lea Newman and Riegler each collected an RBI in the frame.
The Lazers would add another in the fifth after Sears led off with a double and came around to score on the Hawks' error.
The Lazers would end things in the sixth when a groundout by Sears pushed
Sarah Bregg across the plate to give Onondaga an 8-0 win.
Elizabeth Jackson was credited with her seventh win of the season after holding the Hawks to scoreless on only two hits. Jackson, the reigning Region III Female Athlete of the Week has not allowed a run in her last three starts.
Onondaga's next bout will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday when the Lazers hit the road to battle Corning Community College in a Mid-State Athletic Conference doubleheader in Corning.
