The top-ranked Onondaga Community College men's lacrosse team made history against Mohawk Valley Community College on Monday afternoon as the Lazers broke the NJCAA all-time record for consecutive wins across all sports and divisions. Onondaga picked up its record-breaking 98th straight victory by defeating the Hawks 33-0 on Sophomore Day at David W. Murphy Field. The Lazers' streak surpasses an 18-year old mark set by the Herkimer County Community College men's soccer program, which was forged between 1994-1997.
Onondaga, which now stands at 11-0 on the season, was last defeated over five years ago in a one-point loss to Nassau Community College on March 27, 2010. Since that loss, head coach
Chuck Wilbur's squads have been nearly invincible, dominating at every facet of the game. The Lazers have outscored their opponents by an astonishing 2,482-414 while holding opponents to two goals or less in a contest 41 times, resulting in five national championships in that span.
Throughout the winning streak Onondaga has defeated several nationally-ranked teams while sending over 100 student-athletes to NCAA schools to continue their playing career, including four being drafted into the National Lacrosse League.
"This is an incredible achievement for our program," said Wilbur. "There are so many current and former players that have contributed to this historic accomplishment. We definitely appreciate the significance of 98 straight wins, but our goal remains the same and that's to win a national championship."
The Lazers overwhelmed Mohawk right from the first whistle as they picked up a quick 3-0 lead within the first three and a half minutes of the game following a

Onondaga did not let up in the second frame as it poured on another 11 goals, including two goals apiece form
Nicholas Garbarino and
Nick Sawyer to take a 21-0 lead into halftime.
Within the first six minutes of the third quarter, the Lazers managed to find the back of the net four more times against the Hawks. At the 9:24 mark of the stanza,
Logan Ball found
Joseph Ondrako for his first goal of the contest, putting Onondaga up 25-0. The Lazers would fire home three more scores before the end of the frame, holding a 28-0 lead just 15 minutes from history.
In the final quarter,
Zachary Bulak struck first for Onondaga as he took a pass from
Brady Hoose and tallied his second goal of the contest. The play was the start of a five-goal run that was capped by a
Jesse Ondrako score with 3:42 left, giving the Lazers a 33-0 win.
Onondaga displayed total team dominance in the contest as its 33 goals matched a season-high for most goals in a game. It also converted on 11-of-12 clear attempts and won 34-of-36 face-offs. The Lazers also managed to scoop up 61 ground balls and forced Mohawk into 27 turnovers.
In total, 18 different players found the back of the net for Onondaga on the day. Bennett and

Also helping Onondaga was Garbarino, Sawyer, Bulak,
