Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Scores Season-High to Power Past SUNY Broome

The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games on Tuesday with a 106-92 victory over Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent SUNY Broome at the SRC Arena and Events Center.

The Lazers managed to eclipse the 100-point mark for the second consecutive game, scoring a season high 106 points against the Hornets.

With the win, Onondaga claims the series sweep over SUNY Broome and moves to 14-10 overall and 6-2 in MSAC play. The Hornets fall to 8-13 overall and 3-6 in conference action.

The Lazers were in sync offensively right from the start after outscoring SUNY Broome by 23 points over the course of the first 14 minutes of the game.

The early offensive explosion was capped off by a Lloyd Parkmond jumper with six minutes remaining in the half to give Onondaga a 42-19 lead. Parkmond would go on to finish the game with 11 points to go along with six rebounds.

The Hornets would fight back however, closing the Lazers' lead to 11 points, resulting in a 51-41 score at halftime.

Onondaga came out firing in the second half when Kameron DiSanto hit consecutive jumpers starting at the 18:35 mark to ignite a 16-0 Lazers run over the next three minutes of the game. The run included highlight reel plays on both ends of the floor from Michael Scott including a dunk with 17:42 remaining to go along with a run-down block just 14 seconds later. The sophomore big-man finished with his fifth double-double of the season after posting 20 points and 18 rebounds.

SUNY Broome would never pull closer than 11 points after that as Onondaga's offense would prove to be too much for the Hornets on the night, winning 106-92. The Lazers finished the game shooting 49.4% including 10 made 3-pointers as a team.

The Lazers were led offensively by Kameron DiSanto who scored a game-high 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting. The freshman picked up his second double-double of the season after grabbing 10 rebounds.

Joseph Piazza and Trevor Smith were also critical to the team's offensive success after contributing 15 and 12 points receptively. Piazza also managed to tally a game-high seven assists.

Onondaga aims to push its winning streak to five games at 3 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Jefferson Community College in an MSAC contest at Allyn Hall.
