The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team lost a hard-fought 112-95 decision against Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent Finger Lakes Community College on Wednesday in Putt Moore Court.

With the loss, the Lazers even their season record at 10-10 and dip to 3-2 in the conference standings while Finger Lakes improves to 16-3 and 5-1 in MSAC play.

It was a back-and-forth affair from the very beginning as both teams jockeyed for the lead.Â

Michael Scott would give Onondaga a four-point lead, 7-3, at 18:32 only to see Finger Lakes reel off five unanswered points to reclaim the advantage.

In all, the lead would change hands nine times over the game's first eight minutes before the Lazers would open up their largest lead of the game, 45-35 at the 3:53 mark of the opening half.

As it had the entire game to that point, Finger Lakes would battle back, eventually taking a 3-point lead into the locker room after drilling a transition 3-pointer to make it 52-49 at the break.

The second half proved to be no different. The Lazers would overcome a five-point deficit to hold a one-point edge after a free throw from
Lloyd Parkmond broke a 58-58 tie.

After swapping the lead five different times over the next several minutes, Finger Lakes would open up its largest lead of the game to that point, 72-66, after finding nylon on a deep 3-pointer, but as they had each time before, the Lazers would battle back to tie the game at 79s after
Michael DeLuca connected from distance.

The game's momentum would shift suddenly at the 10:25 thanks in part to a 10-0 run by Finger Lakes leading to an Onondaga timeout.

The Lazers would bring it to within five points, but that was as close as they would come as the Lakers continued to hit timely shots eventually building a 17-point lead en route to the 112-95 win.

Six different players reached double figures for Onondaga with
Kyle Kline leading the the way with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting including five from 3-point territory.Â
Kameron DiSanto posted 18 points and pulled down four rebounds while Scott chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds.Â
Trevor Smith posted 11 points and a team-high eight helpers and Parkmond and
Joseph Piazza contributed 11 points apiece for Onondaga.

The Lazers will return to the mix at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they host Cayuga Community College in the SRC Arena and Events Center. Fans in attendance could win a chance to shoot for $5,000.
