Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lazers Have Three-Game Winning Streak Snapped by Mohawk Valley

The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Monday as the Lazers fell to Mohawk Valley Community College, 84-64 in the SRC Arena and Events Center.

With the loss, Onondaga moves to 10-9 overall while the Hawks, winners of 11 straight games, move to 15-3 on the season.

Onondaga would come out the aggressor early on as Lloyd Parkmond scored the Lazers' first nine points, but a 21-1 run over the game's next five minutes would erase the Onondaga's momentum and stake the visiting Mohawk Valley Hawks to a 28-10 lead.

Kameron DiSanto would finally halt the bleeding for Onondaga at 11:19 with a corner 3-pointer, but the Hawks would notch 13 unanswered points to extend their lead to 28 pints, 41-13.

Onondaga would cut the lead to 20 points after putting together an 8-0 run highlighted by an old-fashioned three-point play by Parkmond, but the Hawks would continue to control the pace over the final two minutes of the first half to take a 51-29 lead into the locker room.

The Hawks would lead by as many as 28 points late in the second half before back-to-back 3-pointers by Patrick Twiss sparked a 12-3 run to bring the Lazers to within 19 points, but that was as close as it would get as the Hawks earned an 84-84 win.

Parkmond posted a team-high 16 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals and two assists.  Michael Scott added nine points and eight boards while DiSanto chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.

As a team, the Lazers shot 24-of-70 (.343) from the floor including 4-of-25 from behind the arc.

The Lazers will return to the hardwood at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday when they take on Mid-State Athletic Conference rival Finger lakes Community College in Canandaigua.
