The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team earned their first conference victory of the season after a 90-83 come-from-behind triumph over SUNY Broome in Binghamton.
Onondaga is now 8-8 overall and 1-1 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play following the Tuesday night win. SUNY Broome, still in search of its first conference win, falls to 0-3 in MSAC play and 5-9 overall.
Despite trailing the Hornets 59-46 with just under 14 minutes remaining in the second half, the Lazers would finish the game off by outscoring SUNY Broome by 20 points down the stretch, ultimately taking the seven point victory.Â
The Lazers followed the lead of
Michael Scott during the comeback as the sophomore scored 18 of his team-high 24 points in the second half. Scott also tallied a team-high and career-high 19 rebounds in the contest.
Onondaga received a career day on the offensive end from freshman
Kameron DiSanto who scored a career-best 22 points against the Hornets.
Kyle Kline chipped in with 15 points for the Lazers after hitting on four 3-point shots. The sophomore has now connected on 28 shots from beyond-the-arc this season including 18 in his last five games.
After scoring only 37 points in the first half, the Onondaga's offensive explosion for 53 points in the second half was the most scored in a half by the Lazers since a 60-point second half against Clinton Community College on December 7 earlier this season.
The Lazers aim to earn their second MSAC win of the season at 7 p.m. on Thursday when they take on Jefferson Community College in Watertown.
