The Onondaga Community College women's basketball team edged its winning streak to three games after an 82-55 decision over SUNY Broome in Binghamton.
Â
With the win, Onondaga improves to 13-4 overall and remains unbeaten in Mid-State Athletic Conference play at 2-0. The Hornets, who suffered their first loss in conference competition, move to 2-1 in MSAC play and 7-5 on the season.
Â
After holding a 12-point lead at the half, Onondaga would open up the final 20 minutes on an 8-0 run before the Hornets would get on the board.
Â
The lead would balloon to 20 points for Onondaga thanks in part to
Brittany Anderson's hot shooting as the Seneca Falls native went 6-for-9 from behind the 3-point arc.
Â
The Lazers would continue to apply the pressure throughout the remainder of the half en route to an 82-55 victory.
Â
Anderson led Onondaga with a game-high 26 points marking the sixth time this season the sophomore guard has led Onondaga in scoring.Â
Samantha Roberts matched her career-high with 10 assists and added 12 points while
Melissa Bakowski chipped in with 18 points and eight boards. Freshman
Kumba Marong tallied her third straight double-double after scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Â
The Lazers will look to continue their winning ways at 5 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Watertown to take on Jefferson Community College in an MSAC bout.
