Brie Fabrize scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 79th minute on Saturday as the Lazers held on for a 2-1 win over Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) opponent, Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden.
With the win, Onondaga moves to 8-3-1 overall and remains unbeaten in conference play at 6-0 while the Panthers dip to 6-4-1 on the season.
Frabrize's goal came at an opportune time when the Lazers were able to split the defense allowing
Bridget Field to cross a pass that found the sophomore forward's foot to lift Onondaga to its seventh win in its last eight games.
The Lazers were first to strike, scoring in the game's 17th minute when
Rachael Gac blasted a shot that Tompkins Cortland's keeper saved, but
Carlee Kingston found herself in the right place at the right time as the freshman booted home the go-ahead tally.
The Panthers would score the equalizer in the second half, but it wouldn't be enough as the Lazers reclaimed the lead en route to the 2-1 decision.
Kiersten Spears earned her second win of the season in net after making four stops.
The Lazers will return to the field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when they face SUNY Broome in Binghamton.
