The Onondaga Community College women's soccer team suffered a set back on Wednesday as the Lazers fell to Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) opponent, SUNY Broome, 3-2 thanks to a Hornet goal in the game's final minutes.
Â
The Lazers were staked to an early lead after
Bridget Field banked her eighth goal of the season in only the 6th minute with
Kayla Sharkey picking up an assist on the play.
Â
The lead wouldn't hold for long as the Hornets recorded a goal in the 33rd minute as both teams headed into the intermission tied at one goal apiece.
Â
The Hornets would tack on another goal early in the second half to hold a 2-1 lead, but
Rachael Gac would put the visiting Lazers back in contention in the 67th minute on the crossing pass from Sharkey.
Â
Both teams battled back-and-forth for the remainder of the game until SUNY Broome was able to notch the game-winning goal in the 80th minute to escape with the win.
Â
Margaret Choroser took the loss in net for Onondaga after making two saves overall.
Â
The Lazers will return to David W. Murphy at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will host Niagara County Community College.
