Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Parkmond, Piazza Score Career-Highs as Lazers Cruise Past Clinton

Sophomores Joseph Piazza and Lloyd Parkmond each scored career-highs on Sunday as the Onondaga Community College men's basketball scored a season-high 100 points in a 100-80 win over the visiting Clinton Community College Cougars in Allyn Hall Gymnasium.

Parkmond posted his fourth double-double on Sunday with 30 points and 13 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting while Piazza caught fire from beyond the arc burying a career-best eight 3-pointers en route to a 28-point performance.  The Central Square native's shooting display ranks among the best in Onondaga history and fell just two made 3-pointers shy of tying the program record set by Adam Misener (10) in 2013.

Onondaga also received strong effort from Kameron DiSanto who added 17 points along with seven rebounds and Kyle Kline who chipped in with 11 points after sinking three from downtown.  Forward Colyn Hanley registered seven boards.

After trailing in the game's opening minutes, Kline gave the Lazers the lead on a 3-pointer, 15-13, with 12:23 to play and Onondaga never looked back.

The Cougars would keep it close, tying the contest twice before Onondaga regained the lead with a 40-35 advantage at halftime.

Coming out of the break, both teams would exchange baskets, but the Lazers would utilize a 16-4 run to build a 69-52 lead with 10:26 showing on the game clock.

The Cougars would score a quick basket inside, but DiSanto and Parkmond would combine for five unanswered points to give the Lazers their largest lead of the afternoon, 74-54.

Clinton kept fighting, however, scoring four quick points, but Piazza put an end to any comeback attempt after draining back-to-back treys to put Onondaga back up by 22 points.

As the half wore on, both teams would exchange baskets, but the lead was too much for the Cougars to overcome as Onondaga cruised to the win.

As a team, the Lazers buried a season-high 11 3-pointers and connected on nearly 46% of its shots from distance (11-for-24).

Onondaga, now 6-6 on the season, will return to the mix at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it faces the Herkimer County Community College Generals in Herkimer.
