The Onondaga Community College men's basketball team closed out 2014 with a road loss to nationally-ranked Herkimer County Community College, 98-85, on Saturday in Herkimer.
Â
The Lazers, now 6-7 overall on the season, will remain idle until after winter break when Onondaga travels to Olean to take on Division II's Jamestown-Cattaraugus at 5 p.m. on January 6, 2015.
Â
After trailing by 19 points late in the second half, the Lazers were able to put together a scoring run to cut the deficit to eight points, but that was a close as Onondaga would come as the No. 6 Generals (10-1) held on for the win.
Â
Lloyd Parkmond paced Onondaga with 24 points marking the fifth time this season the Rome native has scored 20 or more points in a contest. The sophomore forward also hauled in seven rebounds and doled out four assists.Â
Kyle Kline and
Joseph Piazza shot the ball well as each finished with double figures adding 16 and 12 points, respectively while
Michael Scott added eight points.
