The nationally-ranked Onondaga Community Colllege women's basketball team nearly erased an 18-point deficit late in the second but could not complete the comeback as the No. 8 Lazers fell to Division II Monroe College on Friday evening, 67-49, in the Mustang Winter Tip-Off in the Bronx.
Â
Onondaga dips to 10-3 overall on the season while Monroe College improves to 10-5 overall.
Â
The Lazers kept the contest close throughout much of the first half and trailed by only six points, 32-26 at halftime.
Â
The Mustangs would control the pace as the second half got underway, extending their lead to as many as 18 points before the Lazers would halve the deficit with four minutes left to play.
Â
Monroe would put an end to the comeback attempt, however, rallying to close out the game and earn the win, 67-49.
Â
Brittany Anderson led the way for Onondaga with 14 points and four steals while
Alisia Griffin notched her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman
