Lloyd Parkmond (Rome Free Academy) scored 12 of his game high 18 points in the second half as Onondaga pulled away to earn an 80-66 win at Columbia-Greene Community College on Sunday afternoon.
Zachary Perry (Gilboa-Conesville) added 10 points, his first double figures performance as a collegian, as the Lazers won on the road for the first time this season.
The Lazers entered Sunday's game with indetical 4-4 records, and the two teams battled on even terms in the early going. With the Twins holding a 12-11 lead,
Kameron DiSanto (Clyde-Savannah) scored at the 11:00 minute mark to put Onondaga back in front. That triggered an 18-7 Onondaga run over the next 6:25, capped by a Perry layup which put the Lazers in front, 28-18. Columbia-Greene narrowed the gap back to 4, but when
Patrick Twiss (Mexico) converted a pair of free throws with no time on the clock, Onondaga headed into halftime with a 38-32 advantage.
The Lazers started the second half fast. After
Colyn Hanley (Jordan-Elbridge) scored on the first possession, consecutive three-pointers by
Trayshaun Hymes (T.R. Proctor), Parkmond, and Perry, followed by a Perry layup, extended the Onondaga advantage to 51-38 with 16:40 remaining. The Twins quickly cut the lead back to 7, but Onondaga regained control, and after a driving layup by
Steven Dolgos (Geneva), the Lazers held a 64-48 advantage with 8:41 remaining. Onondaga would maintain a comfortable lead the rest of the way, going up by as much as 17, before settling at the final score.
Michael Scott (Chittenango) joined Parkmond and Perry in double figures with 10 points. Those three were supported by a balanced attack throughout the lineup. Dolgos and Hymes scored 8 points apiece, while DiSanto chipped in 7 and Hanley added 6 points and 9 rebounds. Parkmond pulled down a game high 15 rebounds and handed out 6 assists. Jordan Hoose led the Twins with 15 points and Derwyn Thompson added 10.
The Lazers are now off until after the Thanksgiving break. They return to action on Tuesday, December 2nd, at Davis College in Johnson City. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
