The Onondaga Community College men's basketball overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, but was unable to hold on to the lead as the Lazers fell to Fulton-Montgomery Community College, 89-74 on Sunday in Allyn Hall Gymnasium.
Fulton-Montgomery, now 4-2 overall, Â came out firing to start the first half, draining back-to-back 3-pointers en route to an 8-2 run before the Lazers would connect with a three of their own from
Joseph Piazza to make it 8-5.
The hot shooting would continue for Fulton-Montgomery as the visiting Raiders would bury three more from behind the arc over the next five minutes to stretch the lead to 13 points, 23-10.
Onondaga would fight back, however, cutting the deficit to five points courtesy of an 11-4 run with
Steven Dolgos pouring in five during the stretch including a three from the wing to make it 30-25 with 5:15 left in the opening stanza.
Both teams would continue to apply the pressure on the offensive end, but the Raiders continued to knock down timely jumpers including their seventh 3-pointer of the half as time expired making it 43-33 as both teams headed into the locker rooms for halftime.
As the second half got underway, the roles seemed to be reversed as the Lazers found the touch from the field, draining their first four shots to cut the Raiders' lead to four points.
Coming out of a timeout, Fulton-Montgomery would counter with yet another 3-pointer, but Onondaga was relentless on both ends of the floor sparking a 9-0 run to give the Lazers their first lead of the game, 50-48.
After both teams would swap the lead, Fulton-Montgomery began to pull away, using a 10-4 run to hold a nine-point edge with 10:33 remaining.
The Raiders would continue to pour it on, stretching its lead to as many as 16 points before a three from Piazza would stop the bleeding.
Onondaga would cut it to 12 points, but an 8-2 run from the Raiders all but sealed the win.
Lloyd Parkmond nabbed his second double-double in as many games with 14 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Piazza added 13 points including three from distance while
