The Onondaga Community College volleyball team completed the perfect season in conference play after a straight-set win over Corning Community College on Wednesday night in Allyn Hall.
The Lazers wrapped up Mid-State Athletic Conference play with a 6-0 record and will host the conference championship tournament on October 25. With the loss, Corning slips to 13-10 on the season.
After taking an early 13-5 lead over the Red Barons to open the match, Onondaga would close out the first frame, 25-15 before claiming a 25-17 decision in the second set.
The Lazers would control the deciding set throughout, jumping out to a four-point lead, 12-8, en route to a 25-15 win.
Melissa Krak posted a game-high seven kills to go along with four digs and an ace.Â
Jessica Cost was productive as well, dishing out 16 assists, seven digs and three kills while
Allison Massara and
Leslie Santos collected 11 digs each.Â
Najah Amica had five blocks in the win.Â
The Lazers, now 18-8 overall, will return to the court beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Cara Bryant Memorial Volleyball Tournament. The Lazers will take on SUNY Broome before battling Northampton Community College on Friday and will host Finger Lakes and SUNY Delhi, respectively, on Saturday.
