The Onondaga Community College volleyball team will advance in the NJCAA Region III volleyball Championship after defeating SUNY Broome in four sets in a sub-regional match on Tuesday evening in Binghamton.

The Lazers, now 24-14 on the season, were selected as the No. 9 seed and move on to face nationally-ranked Monroe Community College on Saturday as the Tribunes earned the Region's top seed after posting a 36-1 record this season. The game will be played in Sanborn on the campus of Niagara County Community College.

The Lazers took the first set, 25-18 before the Hornets were able to even the match with a 25-23 second set victory.

Onondaga, however, was at its best for the remainder of the contest, taking the next two frames to effectively end SUNY Broome's season on its home court.

Melissa Krak had a monster game for the Lazers, posting a double-double with a team-high 10 kills to go along with 16 digs.Â
Jessica Cost returned to the lineup in a big way with 27 assists, 15 digs and three kills while
Allison Massara contributed a game-high six service aces along with six kills and seven digs in the win.Â
Najah Amica was a force in the middle for Onondaga with seven kills and a game-high four blocks and
Leslie Santos frustrated Broome's hitters all night after notching 17 digs. Â Â
