The Onondaga Community College volleyball team picked up four more wins over the week and earned a third-place finish in the 2014 Cara Bryant Memorial Volleyball Tournament over the weekend. The Lazers fell in the semifinal round to the eventual champion, Northampton Community College. The Spartans were able to avenge an earlier loss to Monroe Community College with a three-set win in the title game.
After concluding this weekend's play, the Lazers are now 21-11 on the season.
MATCH ONE: Onondaga: 2, Finger Lakes: 0After scoring the final four points in a 26-24 win over the Lakers in the first set, the Lazers would jump out to a quick 8-3 lead in the second set before Finger Lakes would rally, eventually tying things up at 16-16.
Onondaga would respond with a rally of its own, however, reeling off five straight points capped by a service ace from
Isabella Winklestine to hold a 21-16 advantage.
As they had earlier in the frame, the Lakers would erase the deficit and take a one-point lead, 22-21, after producing six consecutive points.
25 points wouldn't be enough to decide a winner as both teams exchanged points and possessions. Onondaga faced defeat six different times and each time was able to tie the set before scoring the game's final three points off Laker errors to earn a hard-fought 32-30 win.

MATCH THREE: Onondaga: 2, SUNY Broome: 0After finishing pool play at 2-2, the Lazers would earn the No. 6 seed and the right to a rematch with SUNY Broome which had the No. 3 seed.
The Lazers and Hornets were deadlocked at 7-7 until five unanswered points from Onondaga had the home team in a strong position to run away with the first set, but solid defense allowed SUNY Broome to crawl back into the thick of things.
Up by three, Townley would serve four points in a row for Onondaga to seal the win.
In the second set, the Hornets jumped out to an early lead, but it would be quickly erased as the Lazers jumped out to a 19-14 lead before wrapping up the victory, 25-22.
Amica had six kills and a pair of blocks in the win and Krak posted seven kills, nine digs and four aces. Cost once again sparked Onondaga's offense by tallying 20 assists.
MATCH FOUR: Onondaga: 0, Northampton: 2After avenging an earlier loss to Broome, Onondaga advanced to the semifinals where it would once again face nationally-ranked Northampton.
The No. 6 Spartans held a two-point lead, 8-6, before 17 of the set's next 19 points en route to the 25-8 win.
Onondaga wasn't able to gain any momentum in the second set after a 18-3 run by the Spartans had the visiting team poised for another finals appearance after winning the tournament a season ago.
Northampton would extend its lead to 24-5 before the Lazers were able to put together a modest scoring streak, but it was too little, too late as the Spartans won, 25-10.
Krak was named to the All-Tournament team after combining to post 37 kills, 47 digs and seven aces over the six-game tournament.
Onondaga will return to the court beginning at 11:30 a.m. when it faces Erie, Niagara County and Jamestown, respectively at the Jefferson Community College POD in Watertown.
