Biography
At Onondaga: As a freshman on the Lazer basketball team, Ben played in 28 games, earning 2 starts. His season high was 11 points, which he tallied in his first collegiate start against Word of Life, and again at Davis. Against Word of Life he logged a season high 20 minutes and also recorded 4 assists and 4 steals. He score 6 points, handed out 7 assists, and grabbed 4 rebounds in a win over SUNY ESF. This fall, Ben was also the starting goalie and co-captain of the Onondaga soccer team, and led the Lazers to a regional tournament berth. He has excelled in the classroom, and was named to the President’s List and the Provost’s List as a freshman.
Background: Ben was a 3-year varsity basketball player for Coach Tim LaMay at Franklin Academy in Malone. As a senior, he was the captain of a team which captured its first Section 10 Class A championship in five years. Midway through his senior season he was averaging a team best 13 points per game when he suffered a season ending injury. Ben was also team captain and Defensive Most Valuable Player of the Franklin Academy soccer team. An outstanding student, Ben was named Academic All-Northern and named to the Principal’s List, and was inducted into the National Honor Society.
