Jim Mahaney joined the Onondaga Community College baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach in September 2014. Coach Mahaney’s primary duties are working with the catchers and assisting in all aspects of player development.
Prior to joining the Lazer coaching staff, Mahaney served as an assistant coach to legendary NYS Hall of Fame coach Bob Southworth at Corcoran High Sigh School. He also has coached in various capacities in the Onondaga Senior Babe Ruth Classic League along with Valley Babe Ruth. During this time coach Mahaney’s teams won 2 District All-Star titles, 2 All-Star State Titles and advanced to the Mid-Atlantic Regionals twice while qualifying for the Babe Ruth World Series.
Mahaney is a 1990 graduate of SUNY Brockport where he was a four-year starter as a member of the Golden Eagles baseball team. Prior to Brockport he played baseball at Corcoran High School where he was named First-team All-County his senior year.
Jim resides in Syracuse with his wife Alicia and their two daughters, Morgan and Payton.
