Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Baseball hosted Monroe Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Frank Sgroi (Syracuse, NY / Bishop Grimes HS) got the start for OCC on the mound opening up the game with a ground out and strikeout before an RBI triple earned the Tribunes' their first run. Another RBI put Monroe up 2-0 in the top of the 1st.Â
A stand up double for Monroe followed by an error found the Tribunes their third run in the top of the 4th.Â
Devin Plourde (Camden, NY / Camden HS) came to the mound in the top of the 5th for OCC. After allowing two straight batters on base, the Lazer defense recorded a double play to clear the bases followed by a strikeout from Plourde to end the inning.
Jaadiell Romero (Utica, NY / Proctor HS) came to the mound for OCC in the top of the 7th. Sequential errors, an RBI single, and an RBI double allowed three runs for the Tribunes leading 6-0 for the Lazers' final at bats.
Mason Greco (Syracuse, NY / Henninger HS) smoked a stand up triple in the bottom of the 7th, but was left stranded with OCC falling in game 1, 6-0.
Isaiah Gomez (Victorville, CA / Riverside Prep) started game 2 for the Lazers.
The Tribunes strung together 8 runs in the top of the 2nd.
Ryan Campbell (Syracuse, NY / Westhill HS) knocked a solo homerun in the bottom of the 4th.
Monroe extended their lead to 13-1 in the top of the 5th before OCC tallied a single run in the bottom of the inning off an RBI triple from
Brayden Delaney (Buffalo, NY / West Seneca East), ending game 2 via mercy rule.
