Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Baseball hosted Genesee Community College on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Nate Kroll (Getzville, NY / Williamsville North HS) got the start on the mound for the Lazers. Genesee put one on the board in the top of the 1st after three runners reached. Mike Ferranti (Endicott, NY / Union Endicott HS) singled to start the Lazers' at bats. Two stolen bases followed by a sacrifice fly from Luke Pickett (Aurora, OH / Westhill HS) scored Ferranti to tie things up in the bottom of the inning.

A walk with bases loaded followed by a base hit and error put the Cougars ahead 4-1 in the 2nd. A solo homerun for Anthony Sawanec (Westmoreland, NY / Westmoreland HS) scored one in the bottom of the 2nd to trail 2-4.

The Cougars responded with a lead off homer in the top of the 3rd. A single up the middle to score another ended Kroll's day on the mound, bringing in Jace Egenhauser (Suffern, NY / Suffern HS) before Genesee pulled ahead 8-2. Pickett tallied an RBI double in the bottom of the 3rd to score Ferranti before Luis Suarez (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee HS) knocked an RBI triple to score Pickett. 

OCC scraped together a run in the bottom of the 5th off an RBI to score Ryan Campbell (Syracuse, NY / Westhill HS). An RBI double came in response for the Cougars top of the 6th, leading 9-5. 

Pickett recorded his third hit of game one with two outs, followed by a double for Suarez, followed by an RBI single for Sawanec, trailing 9-6. A fly out left Suarez and Sawanec stranded with the Lazers taking the loss in game one, 9-6.

Kaden Kalfass (Cicero, NY / Cicero North Syracuse HS) got the start in game two for OCC.

An RBI single in the top of the 2nd put the Cougars up first. A wild throw on a stolen base attempt allowed another Cougar run to lead 2-0. A diving grab in right field from Pickett prevented further runs for Genesee to end the inning.

A Sawanec triple followed by a Campbell double knocked in the Lazers' first run in the bottom of the 2nd.

Sophomore Jesse DeMaintenon (Canastota, NY / Canastota HS) came to the mound in the top of the 5th for OCC. An RBI double with two outs scored one for Genesee, leading 3-1.

Suarez reached in the bottom of the 6th off a double followed by Sawanec who reached on a walk, setting up Campbell to knock them both in on an RBI triple to tie it up. Cooper Brogan (Sloatsburg, NY / Suffern HS) earned OCC the 5-3 lead on a homerun with two outs.

A solo homerun for Genesee in the top of the 7th made it 5-4. DeMaintenon stayed composed grabbing strikeout number 7 to take the win for the Lazers in game two.
