Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Baseball hosted Corning Community College in an MSAC doubleheader on Saturday. The Lazers swept the Red Barons earning Head Coach
Bob Piraino's 100th career victory at Onondaga after game 1.
Jesse DeMaintenon (Canastota, NY / Canastota HS) got the start on the bump for the Lazers in game 1.
DeMaintenon recorded two strikeouts in the top of the inning before the Lazers stranded
Mike Ferranti (Endicott, NY / Union Endicott HS) on third in the bottom of the inning to stay 0-0 headed to the 2nd.
With two outs in the top of the 2nd, the Red Barons manufactured the first run of the game on an RBI double. OCC responded loading up the bases with no outs before

(Westmoreland, NY / Westmoreland HS) scored on passed ball immediately followed by another passed ball to score
Luis Suarez (Syracuse, NY / West Genesee HS) and lead 2-1.
DeMaintenon tallied three straight strikeouts the top of the 5th to hang on to the Lazers 2-1 lead.
The Lazers scored another in the bottom of the 5th off a sacrifice fly from Sawanec to score
Luke Pickett (Aurora, OH / Westhill HS).
DeMaintenon came to the mound in the 7th for a full game appearance. After two base hits to start the 7th, a sacrifice bunt moved the tying run to second base. A sacrifice fly gave the Lazers two outs, but just a 1-run lead and the tying run still on second. After walking a Corning batter, DeMaintenon recorded his day total of 11 strikeouts in a complete game to secure Piraino's 100th win.
Conner Eastwood (Massena, NY / Massena HS) started on the bump in Game 2 for the Lazers.
Ryan Campbell (Syracuse, NY / Westhill HS) started things in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI double to put one on the board. Followed by an RBI from Suarez to take a 2-0 lead in the 1st.
Cole Jordan (Dewitt, NY / Jamesville Dewitt HS) knocked a triple in the bottom of the second before a sacrifice fly from
Cooper Brogan (Sloatsburg, NY / Suffern HS) scored him to lead 3-0.
Carlos Jara (West Chester, PA / West Chester East HS) was stranded on base after a ground-rule double to lead off the bottom of the 3rd.
The Red Barons scored a quick 2 in the top of the 5th when they strung together a series of baserunners followed by a timely error to trail just 2-3.
Jara scored the Lazers 4th run off a single from Pickett in the bottom of the 5th.
Jace Egenhauser (Suffern, NY / Suffern HS) came to the bump for OCC in the top of the 6th. The Lazers defended behind him stranding two baserunners.
Back to back hits came for OCC to start the 6th before a Corning error scored Suarez. A hit from Brogan scored another Lazer run before a passed ball brought in OCC's 7th before a 7th inning shutout to take game 2.
The Lazers will look for a 4-0 series in another doubleheader with Corning on the road on Tuesday, March 24th at 2pm.
