Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Women's Basketball hosted Hostos Community College and Monroe University - Bronx over the weekend kicking off 2026 in non-region play.
The women took on the Hostos Caimans on Friday night in their first game back from the break. With their highest scoring performance of the season, the Lazers had little rust to shake off. Sophomore
Jada Crocker (Fairport, NY / Fairport HS) led the Lazers to early 26-12 lead after the first quarter dropping 7. After a hot 2nd quarter for Sophomore
Amiya Johnson (Fairport, NY / Fairport HS) going 4-4 from three, OCC went to the break with a 49-24 lead.
OCC extended the lead from the start of the half, outscoring the Caimans 44-26, resulting in a dominant 93-50 victory.
OCC converted Hostos turnovers to 29 points and shot a collective 37.5% from three and 51.3% from the field with a lead as large as 47. Johnson finished the day recording a career high 7 threes, leading all scorers with 21. Crocker put up 15 points and 8 rebounds followed by 14 for Freshman
Morgan Vasquez (New York, NY / Lab School Finance Technology). Freshman
Alyvia Woodruff (Elmira, NY / Elmira HS) recorded a career high 10 points for the Lazers.
The women hit the floor again Sunday afternoon with the No. 5 Monroe - Bronx Express for a top 10 matchup.
The Lazers came out with a 6-0 start over the Express with work down low from bigs

Mary Hamer (Belfast, NY / Belfast HS). The Express' first lead came at 15-14 on their second three of 4 in the 1st quarter, proving to be the critical factor with a day total of 11 from deep for the Express and 2 for OCC.
The Express extended their lead in the 2nd quarter with another 12 points from beyond the arc. The Lazers continued to struggle from the outside, 0-5 in the 2nd quarter. Work from Hamer and Crocker out rebounding the Express 11-3 in the 2nd sent the Lazers into the break trailing just 45-40.
Monroe came out of the gate in the 3rd quarter with a 9-2 run, leading 54-42 with under two minutes shaved off the half. Onondaga pulled within 6 before continued hot outside shooting for the Express put the nail in the coffin of OCC, falling 77-68 in the well fought top 10 matchup.
Jada Crocker led all scorers tying her season high 22 points.
Mary Hamer recorded her fifth season double-double tallying 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore
Lundyn McCutchen (Spencerport, NY / Spencerport HS) dropped 10 for OCC.
The weekend split moves the women to 9-3 headed back into Region 3 play this week starting with SUNY Adirondack on the road on Saturday, January 17th with a 1:00PM tip.
