Rochester, NY - Onondaga Softball traveled to Monroe Community College to face the No. 2 Tribunes in the Region 3B Championship Series. The Lazers fell in the first two games of the three game series and finish the season with a 13-14 overall record.
The day began at 1:00pm with the Lazers as the away team in game 1. OCC put the first run on the board after
Avalon Millard reached second on a lead off double and was scored on an
Erin LaVancha RBI single. The Lazers held onto the 1-0 lead until the 3rd inning where the Tribunes scored 3 on a sacrifice fly and a 2-run homerun. The Tribunes had another 3-run inning in the 4th for a 6-1 lead, which they would hold the Lazers to for a game 1 victory. Millard and
Grace Hoey each had 2 hits.
Onondgaa took the field in game 2 as the home team. Monroe was first on the board with 3 runs in the 3rd. The Lazers responded in the bottom of the inning with 2 runs off an
Ava Falvo RBI single to score
Lily Stevens and another off a Tribune error. After Monroe put up 3 more runs in the top of the 4th for a 6-2 lead, the Lazers had a huge 4th inning batting around and scoring 5 runs to take the lead.
Paige Glassford had the ground-rule double to score the go ahead run with bases loaded and two outs. The Lazers stayed ahead until the 6th inning when Monroe had three straight base hits with bases loaded to score 4 and lead 10-7. With another run in the 7th for the Tribunes and the Lazers unable to manufacture any more runs, the Lazers fell in game 2, 11-7, ending the series. Millard had 3 RBIs and Falvo and Glassford each had 2.
