Syracuse, NY - The Lazers hosted SUNY Niagara on their home turf finishing with a sweep on the day.
Sydney Puttkamer led on the mound for the Lazers in game 1, credited with the win in 5 innings, 8-run ruling the Thunderwolves. The Lazers had a monster 2nd inning with 5 runs and 4 in the 5th to end the game, 16-8.
Avalon Millard had 6 RBIs in the victory, going 3-4 from the plate in game 1.
The Thunderwolves got it going in game 2 with 6 runs in the 1st inning and 4 in the 2nd putting the Lazers in danger. But a 6-run response in the 3rd kept them in the game thanks to
Lily Stevens and
Erin LaVancha going 3-5 at the plate in game 2. Both teams failed to score any runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th inning, forcing the game into extras. With the Lazers at bat in the top of the 8th, it was LaVancha who knocked in an RBI triple to get things going for the Lazers and taking a 3-run lead just having to defend. The Thunderwolves put up 2 runs of their own, and with the tying run on 3rd, the Lazers defended with Puttkamer back on the mound and holding the Thunderwolves a run short, and securing the 14-13 8-inning victory in game 2. LaVancha had 3 RBIs in game 2.
Onondaga is back at it this Thursday, April 10th vs Hudson Valley at home at 3pm.
