Rossville, MD - No. 4Â Onondaga traveled to CCBC-Essex to take on the No. 3 team in the nation. The matchup lived up to the hype with a tie game in regulation, forcing an overtime thriller where the Lazers suffered a 13-12 loss.
The Lazers were the first to score early on in what would be a back and forth dual. The Lazers led 4-3 at the end of the 1st quarter with 2 goals from
Cy Deer. It was
Takaronhiotakie Thompson that put the Lazers up 2 with a goal assisted from
Gabe Edwards.
Hayden Kinsella and
Peter Resnick went to work in the circle going 11-14 in the first half.
Cy Deer's third goal held onto the Lazers 2-goal lead before the Knights when on a run with 4 unanswered, leading 8-6 three minutes into the 3rd quarter. The Lazers had a response with 4 unanswered for themselves, leading 10-8 headed into the 4th quarter. A battle in the 4th led to a 12-12 tie in regulation, forcing a 5-minute overtime. The Knights found their opportunity at 3:26, sending the Lazers home with a heartbreaking loss.
Thompson and Deer each had a hat trick for the Lazers.
Jacob Fifield had 11 saves in goal.Â
Onondaga takes on Hudson Valley on Monday night, April 7th at 6pm on Wilbur Field.
