Syracuse, NY - Men's Lacrosse hosted Region 20 Anne Arundel Community College on Wilbur Field last weekend after a mid week game at Genesee Community College. The Lazers trailed by 4 goals at halftime and had a comeback second half to defeat the Riverhawks 11-8.
The Riverhawks were first on the board going up 2-0 over the Lazers to start until the response from
Chase Bain at 5:34, ending the 1st quarter 2-1, regardless of
Peter Resnick's 3-4 performance in the circle. Bain tied it up in the 2nd for the Lazers after a save from
Jacob Fifield and successful clear for the Lazers and tie it up 2-2. The Riverhawks took back their lead with four consecutive goals, the 6th on a man-up opportunity after a penalty on
Gabe Edwards.
Jared Hussey closed the margin with a goal at 5:29 and another with 36 seconds remaining in the half. The Riverhawks scored two more goals in the 2nd quarter to lead 8-4.
Bryant Moses put the first one of the second half in the net for the Lazers to light the fire for Onondaga, followed by
Gabe Edwards at 10:11 on man-up opportunity,
Cooper Taft at 1:54, and it was
Reef Beal who tied it all up at 8-8 to end the 3rd quarter with his 16th goal of the season. After a shot clock violation on the Riverhawks, the Lazers took their first lead 7 minutes into the 4th quarter on a goal from
Cooper Taft with the assist from
Ethan Petrus. Edwards put his second one in at 5:41 and
Takaronhiotakie Thompson sealed the deal for the 11-8 victory after a Riverhawk Penalty.
His performance in week 5 earned Fifield NJCAA Player of the Week with 61 saves.
The men travel to West Point this Saturday to face off against Army Prep at 3pm.
