Howard, MD - Men's Lacrosse traveled to Region 20 Howard Community College over the weekend where the Lazers came out on top with the 10-9 victory.
Cy Deer put the Lazers on top first with his eighth goal of the season. The Dragons had a quick response for Onondaga's first three goals of the game, also scored by
Gabe Edwards and
Takaronhiotakie Thompson, before taking their first lead, 4-3 at 7:16 and a scoreless remainder of the 1st quarter. The Dragons kicked off the 2nd quarter with an immediate goal which would be their biggest lead of the day, 5-3.
Peter Resnick had a quick response scoring his second goal of the season after the faceoff win. Another win for Resnick in the circle led to the Lazers tying it up on a goal from
Ethan Petrus from
Chase Bain. The Lazers had a man-up opportunity at 8:58 on a Dragons penalty. Taking advantage was Thompson from Edwards for a 6-5 lead. Thompson put another one in the net for the Lazers with 1:50 remaining in the half. The Dragons came back within one after a faceoff violation to head into the half with Onondaga leading 7-6.
The lone goal scored in the 3rd quarter came from Howard to tie it up at 11:51. 8 minutes into the 4th quarter, after getting multiple shot attempts, the Lazers finally found net for Edwards' second of the day from
David Hogan. This sparked two more Lazer goals to follow from
Reef Beal and
Chase Bain giving the Lazers a 10-7 lead with 3:08 remaining. Howard capitilized on a man-up opportunity cutting it to a 2-point lead for the Lazers within 3 minutes. Onondaga found themselves leading by a goal with 13 seconds remaining after a Lazer turnover resulted in another Howard goal.
Hayden Kinsella was in the circle for the Lazers, taking the huge faceoff win to secure the 10-9 win. Thompson had 4 points on the day with 3 goals an assist.
Jacob Fifield recorded 7 saves in goal.
The Lazers travel to the conference opponent, Genesee Community College, this Wednesday for a 6pm start.
