Garden City, NY - Onondaga traveled to their first non-region opponent of the season, Nassau Community College on Saturday. The Lazers suffered a hefty and unexpected 17-6 loss, extending their lose streak to the Lions to five games.

The Lions opened up with five unanswered goals, until Onondaga's first came from Takaronhiotakie Thompson on an assist from Jared Hussey with 22 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Thompson put up another for the Lazers to start the second quarter, but Nassau responded with three, sending the Lazers into halftime trailing 8-2.

Taking 11 out of 13 faceoffs in the second half, momentum stayed with the Lions as they put one in the net just 17 seconds into the half. Nassau's Jack Lepore proved to be unstoppable by the Onondaga defense scoring 4 consecutive goals increasing Nassau's lead to 13-2. The Lazers took advantage of a man-up situation at 5:05 on a Gabe Edwards goal. With a pair more for each team in the fourth quarter, the Lazers walked off the field with a 9-goal defeat. Onondaga's final two goals were scored by Bruce Benedict and Gabe Edwards. Goalie, Jacob Fifield had 11 saves in goal on the day.

Onondaga will remain on the road for their next three contests, this Wednesday at Tompkins-Cortland Community College for a 4:30pm start.
