Watertown, NY - Women's Basketball traveled to Jefferson Community College on Wednesday for a matchup with the Cannoneers. Jefferson defeated the Lazers earlier this season for Onondaga's only conference loss. Onondaga walked out on top this time, 61-57.
The Lazers had a hot 1st quarter with a 17-7 lead over the Cannoneers. Jefferson responded in the 2nd quarter outscoring Onondaga 17-7, with a 24-24 tie at half. The Lazers trailed after the 3rd, but took the edge in the 4th scoring 23 points.
Kathryn Grainger and
Precious Gabriel each had a double-double with 14 points each.
Sarah Hirschler had 12 points for the Lazers.
The victory earned Onondaga the No. 1 seed in the Region III Championship to take place this weekend back at Jefferson Community College. The No. 1 spot earned Onondaga a first round bye and they will face the winner of No. 8 Corning and No. 9 Cayuga on Friday at 6:00pm in the quarter final round of the tournament.
