Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Men's Wrestling hosted the first ever New York State Collegiate Wrestling Championship to take place in SRC Arena. Participants came from Onondaga, Alfred State, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Cortland, Elmira College, Hunter College, Ithaca College, Jamestown Community College, United States Merchant Marine Academy, Nassau Community College, SUNY Niagara, New York University, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Oswego, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, Army Prep and Utica University.
After 12+ hours in the arena, the Lazers have shattered multiple program records as well multiple firsts. With Combined total of 93.5 points, the Lazers placed 12th in the Open and 9th in the Freshmen/Sophomore Categories, their highest team placement yet.
All-State Distinctions included Charlie Foster taking first place in the 174lb weight class Open Division, titled OCC's first ever state champion. Darik Soucia took second place in the 149lb weight class in the Freshman/Sophomore Division. Also placing in the Freshman/Sophomore Division was Mikey Boyhan placing third in the 141lb weight class, Mykola Fabian taking fifth in the 285lb weight class, and Marek Sokolowksi rounded out placing sixth in the 133lb weight class.

Trey Darmody-Latham and Anthony Riley had their collegiate debuts on the mat for OCC. Luis Rivera, Charlie Caputo, and Ajmal Ahktari hit the mat for their season debut as well.

The Lazers next meet will take place on Friday, December 5th at the SUNY Niagara Tri-Meet in Sanborn, NY.
