Sanborn, NY - Onondaga Men's Wrestling brought home a 5th place finish from the NJCAA Division III Duals hosted by SUNY Niagara for the first time since 1973-74.
The Lazers, as the No. 8 seed, completed an upset with a 33-20 win versus the No. 7 seed, Union Community College out of New Jersey, taking 5th place. They finished the day with 3-2 record with wins over the No. 5, 6, and 7 seed teams.
Sophomore
Lucian Mallinger (Baldwinsville, NY / Baker HS) went 1-1 recording his first collegiate win. Freshman
Michael Boyhan (Auburn, NY / Auburn HS) went 3-2 including a tech-fall and a pin. Freshman
Matt Dougherty (Jamesville, NY / Jamesville-DeWitt HS) went 3-2 with a tech-fall and pin over the No. 12 wrestler in the nation. Freshman
Darik Soucia (Canastota, NY / Canastota HS) went 4-1 with two pins and major decision. Also 4-1 was Sophomore
Enver Bulatov (Syracuse, NY / Jamesville Dewitt HS) with two pins and major decision. Capping it off was 5-0 Sophomore
Charlie Foster (Durhamville, NY / Vernon Verona Sherill HS) with a win over the No. 11 wrestler in the nation.
