Syracuse, NY - Onondaga Women's Basketball moved to 3-1 on the season with a win over Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Allyn Hall. In her fifth season at the helm, the 84-51 victory is Head Coach
Kelly Seibt's 100th career win with the Lazers.
Freshman Guard,
Morgan Vasquez led all scorers with 14 points and 7 rebounds and put up the first bucket of the game three minutes in. Fairport Sophomore,
Jada Crocker came to the court for her first minutes of the season after recovering from an injury, giving the Lazers a 7-5 lead on a three-point play. Crocker went to work down low finishing with 6 rebounds and 11 points. Spencerport Sophomore,
Lundyn McCutchen went on to extend the Lazers' lead with 5 straight points in the first quarter.
The Lazers put on full court pressure in the second quarter forcing several Panther turnovers. The Panthers however stayed within reach with their hot outside shooting. Still active on defense, the Lazers started to pull away at the end of the half with a last second bucket from Liverpool Sophomore, Giselle Allen-Cruz.
Onondaga came out in the second half continuing to pull away with a 22-point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Lazer roster included six with 9 points or more (Vasquez, Crocker,
Kassidy Jones, Allen-Cruz, McCutchen, and
Amiya Johnson). The hefty lead allowed the first minutes for Onondaga's Freshman Guard from Oneida Nation High School,
Otstokhwi Wheelock-Flores. The scoring depth in a 84-51 victory for OCC.
The women will travel to North Country Community College this Sunday, November 16th for a 3:00pm tipoff with the Saints.
