Sanborn, NY - Onondaga Volleyball traveled to the SUNY Niagara regional pod along with Erie Community College. The Lazers went 0-2 on the weekend moving to 10-6 on the season.
Onondaga took on the Niagara Thunderwolves in the first match at 10am. The Lazers fell short in set one 25-21 but bounced back with a dominant 25-14 victory in set two. Niagara responded with two consecutive victories in the third and fourth, 25-14 and 25-21. Game leaders inlcuded Sophomore
Ella Beckering with 12 kills, followed by Sophomore
Cariana Wilson with 11. Freshman Setter
Chylure Bucktooth recorded 16 assists. Defense was led by
Samantha Sovocool grabbing 15 digs and Wilson tacking on 13.
Match two followed at 12pm with the Lazers taking on the Erie Kats. Onondaga suffered a loss in five sets with victories in the second and third sets, falling just short in the fourth, 26-24 and falling in the fifth 15-13. Beckering added 16 kills to her daily total and Sovocool grabbed 22 digs. Sophomore
Cydney Pitman recorded 25 assists in match two.
The Lazers are back at it this Tuesday, October 14th at 6pm in Allyn Hall for a match with 4-year Roberts Wesleyan University. Onondaga will honor their sophomores in a brief ceremony preceeding the start of the match.
