Syracuse, NY - The Lazers hosted Erie Community College and SUNY Niagara this weekend in the annual Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament. The Lazers went .500 on the day falling to the Erie Kats 3 sets to 1 and defeated the Niagara Timberwolves 3 sets to 1.
Onondaga took on Erie in the first match of the day at 12pm. The two battled it out with every set won by 6 or less. The Lazers took a victory in the 2nd set 26-24, but fell short in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th giving Erie the win.
Kara Stephens had 12 kills and 3 aces for the Lazers.
Alexsis Knox had 20 assists and
Shelby Jock had 8 blocks. The Lazers had a break in between games before taking on the Timberwolves at 4pm.
The Lazers kicked off the match winning the first set 25-17. Catching them on their heels, the Timberwolves took set 2 26-24 and forcing a 4th. The Lazers took the win in the 3rd and 4th sets securing the match. Stephens had 13 kills in match 2 alongside Knox with 24 assists and
Nevaeh Baker with 15 digs.
The split moves Onondaga to 8-3 before taking on Corning Red Barons this Tuesday, October 1st at 6pm in Allyn Hall. The two teams met just a week ago at the Corning Regional Tri-Match where Onondaga took a win 3 sets to none.
