Rochester, MN - Women's Basketball finished 6th of 12 teams in the 2024 National Tournament. The Lazers finish with an overall record of 29 wins and 4 losses (.878).

Onondaga entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed receiving a first round bye. The Lazers had a late night start on Thursday taking on the No. 6 Dallas - Cedar Valley Suns. A hot first quarter for the Suns put the Lazers behind early on. Unable to utilize their outside shooting, the Lazers entered the half trailing 37-18. A three from Grainger to start the second half lit a fire under the Lazers. Channeling their consistent resiliency we've seen all season, the Lazers outscored the Suns 23-13 in the third quarter putting them in a good spot to make a run trailing by just 10 points. A high intensity fourth quarter would result in an intentional foul and two technical fouls called on Onondaga, including one on Coach Kelly Seibt. Obvious frustration and solid Dallas - Cedar Valley offense would result in a 61-78 loss for the Lazers sending them to a consolation game. Kathryn Grainger, Sarah Hirshler, and Ryleigh Endres each had 12 points in the loss. The Lazers used their depth to their advantage like they have all season long finishing with 37 bench points.

Friday's consolation game would put Onondaga in front of their most familiar opponent of the season, Jefferson Community College. This would be the fifth meeting of the two teams, including one in the MSAC Championship, and another in the Region III Championship. The infamous matchup wouldn't go differently than usual with a close game, but Onondaga coming out on top. The Lazers went 4-1 against the Cannoneers this season. Grainger put up a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds alongside Tori Jacobs with 10 points and 11 rebounds. This win would send Onondaga to compete for 5th place in their final game of the season against Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

A noon start on Saturday began the Lazers final game of the season against the Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams out of Coon Rapids, MN. An appropriate ending to the season showed points all across the board for Onondaga with their long list of contributors. Avianna Baker and Ryleigh Endres each had 9 points for the Lazers. Gassed after a long season, the Lazers fell short the Golden Rams suffering a 55-67 loss and finishing the tournament in 6th place.

Kelly Seibt had plenty to say about the tournament and the season as a whole:

"The outcome wasn't what we wanted or expected, but I hope these young ladies know how proud I am to be their coach. We came up just short, but that doesn't take away from the very successful season we had including an MSAC Championship and a Region III Championship.

I want to thank the athletic department and the campus community for their support all season long.

It was a very special group and it was a very special season. 29-4 is something we didn't think could be possible after graduating our entire team last season. We brought in 14 newcomers and had 4 returners, and they just gelled. The team chemistry off the court was a direct result of the success we had on the court. It was a very memorable season."
