Alfred, NY -  OCC Women's Wrestler, River Freer went to SUNY Alfred to compete in the first ever Pioneer Open. Redshirt Freshman, Deanna Williamson competed unattached.

River Freer competed in the 180lb weight class and Williamson in the 131lb weight class. Freer posted a 1-2 record, which was good enough for 3rd in her weight class and her one win coming via pin in the 1st period vs a Buffalo State athlete. One of her losses came from a Lehigh athlete and the other from Cornell. She was able to get her first collegiate win and pin in her first tournament. Williamson posted a 2-2 record, which was also good enough for 3rd and her two wins came via pin and tech fall. 

This was Freer's first ever freestyle match. Head Coach Zach Gifford is looking forward to building her up from her first win.
