Albany, NY - Softball headed East this weekend for back-to-back doubleheaders with the Twins of Columbia-Greene on Saturday and the Hudson Valley Vikings on Sunday. The Lazers improved their regional record to 7-4 going 3-1 on the weekend with a sweep and a split.
Game 1
The Lazers secured their first shutout of the season with
Bianca DeSellems on the mound allowing just 2 hits and finishing with 11 strikeouts in 5 innings. DeSellems carried her momentum to the plate with 2 base hits and 3 RBIs.
Sophia D'Arcangelis went 3-4 from the plate and scored 4 of the teams 15 runs against the Twins.
Game 2
The Lazer defense remained solid in game 2 with 0 errors.
Carley Cinquemani had 3 base hits of the team's total 9. The 5 inning shutout ended with a score of 10-0.
Olivia Colgan moves to 3-1 with the win on the mound.
Game 3
Looking to carry the momentum of Saturday's sweep into game 1 against the Vikings, the Lazers were unable to find their offensive groove finishing the game with no hits.
Emma Kelly scored the Lazer's 1 run after a walk.
Trista DeLong pitched the full 6 with 3 strikeouts.
Game 4
Kicking off game 2 after a no hitter and a Lazer injury, OCC had to dig deep for a major momentum shift. Adjustments were made by the Lazer batters to scrape back and put up 7 runs in the 1st inning. With scattered hits from the Vikings, the Lazers led 9-7 in the 7th inning.
Bianca DeSellems caused 2 ground outs and a pop-up for 3 straight outs holding the Vikings in the 7th for a 9-7 victory. DeSellems had 7 strikeouts for a total of 18 on the weekend and secured the win for her 3rd of the season.
Zoe White had 2 base hits and 2 RBIs to her team-leading 23 total on the season.
The Lazers will host the Lackawanna Falcons this Thursday, April 20th at 3pm at home.
