Rochester, MN- Onondaga took a tough loss in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Tournament, 64-72, to #7 ranked Community College of Rhode Island.
The Lazers got off to a slow start ending the first quarter trailing 14-24.
Hannah Durand had a huge second quarter scoring 14 points to put the Lazers up 38-37 going into halftime. That momentum carried into the third as the Lazers outscored the Knights 21-11 in the third and took an 11 point lead going into the final quarter. The Knights defense turned up a notch in the fourth quarter holding the Lazers to five total points on 13% shooting. The poor shooting quarter doomed the Lazers and led to a heartbreaking loss.
Durand led the Lazers with a game and career high of 30 points on 70% shooting and 50% from three.
The Lazers will now play Dallas College- Mountain View in the consolation bracket Thursday at 1:00pm EST. The game will be streamed on the
