Syracuse, NY- The Lazers secured back-to-back victories over the weekend against two Region 3 opponents. A strong second half pushed the Lazers to victory on Saturday against Mohawk Valley. The Lazers honored their nine sophomores on Sunday with a blowout victory against Hudson Valley.
The Lazers and Hawks played a tightly contested first half on Saturday going into halftime tied at 36. Onondaga outscored Mohawk Valley by 10 in the third quarter propelling them to a 76-66 victory.
Macey DeOrdio led the Lazers with 25 points and nine rebounds while shooting 57% from three. Zhane Holmes had a well-balanced game for the Lazers putting up 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
On Sunday, the Lazers honored their nine sophomores:
Ellie Grainger,
Julianna Barton,
Macey DeOrdio,
Isabella Commesso,
Hannah Durand,
McKenzie Barber,
Raychel Underwood, Zhane Holmes, and
Megan Phillips. After ending the first quarter tied, the Lazers went on to score three straight 20-point quarters to secure the win in blowout fashion, 90-65.
Macey DeOrdio led the Lazers again with a double-double performance, putting up 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lazers will be back at home on Wednesday with another Region 3 matchup against Jefferson Community College. The Lazers won their first meeting of the season 92-67.
