Syracuse, NY - Men's Basketball hosted their first contest Friday night against the Mighty Oaks of SUNY ESF. The Lazers took a 116-107 victory continuing the win streak over the Mighty Oaks in the two teams' matchup history.

The Lazers' combination of veteran Sophomores and new Freshman talent made for an exciting group to watch. Freshman, LaMar Matthews, out of Buffalo, NY showed out with 31 points and 7 rebounds going 5-8 from three. Freshman Guard, Anthony Brooks put up 21 and 12 assists. 

The tight game had numerous lead changes and the Lazers trailed 53-59 at half. With 20 more minutes of fight, the Lazers had a 3-point lead with a minute remaining. Keeping composure and trusting their offense, Sophomore Sylvestor Seton found a bucket to increase the lead. Seton went to the line on the same possession to put the Lazers up 112-105 giving ESF 40 seconds to put something together. Unable to do so, the Lazers took the win with a 1-0 start to the 23-24 season.

The men are back in action on Tuesday, November 7th at 7:30pm as they'll take on the Monroe Tribunes following the women.
