Syracuse, NY - The Lazers hosted the No. 9 Genesee Cougars last night on Wilbur Field after a road win this weekend. The women move to 10-2 on the season defeating the Cougars with a 2-1 victory.
The Lazers were first on the board in the 18th minute with a goal from
Harmony Russell on the assist from
Lilly Duschen. Russell continues to lead the team with 16 goals on the season. The Lazers owned offensive possession in the first half with little action for Goalkeeper,
Mikalah Bliss. With a scoreless remaining 27 minutes, the Lazers entered halftime with the lead over the Cougars.
With time dwindling down in the 2nd half, Genesee put one on the board to tie it all up. But a tie would not satisfy the Lazers as they had a quick response from
Grace O'Gorman from
Lynnae Russell in the 76th minute to take the lead once again. The Lazers held onto this lead for the final minutes and defeating the No. 9 Cougars.
The women have the rest of the week off until their final conference matchup against the Tompkins-Cortland Panthers on Sunday, October 15th at 2:30PM in Dryden, NY.
