The Lazers took two tough losses this weekend. A slow start doomed the Lazers on Saturday as they fell to Cayuga at home, 67-91. On Sunday, against #9 ranked Genesee CC, another slow start put the Lazers down at halftime and then the Cougars cruised to a 95-60 victory.
On Saturday, the Lazers shooting and slow start put them behind early as they shot 21% on 40 three-point attempts. At the half Cayuga led 51-30, the Lazers were able to cut the lead down to 7 with five minutes left in the second half before the Spartans went on an 11-0 run to push the game back out of reach. Isaiah Warmack led the Lazers with 17 points each.
On Sunday, the Lazers traveled to Genesee and another poor shooting day led to another defeat. The Lazers shot 29% from the field on the day and 28% from three. At the half they found themselves down 31 points and could not make up the difference in the second half.
Alex Pagan led the Lazers with 16 points.
Onondaga will look to rebound this Wednesday when they travel to play the Red Barons of Corning. The last time these two teams faced off the Red Barons won a close contest in a high scoring, 101-99 game.
